When a large blue tank with a diameter of 2 meters needs to pass through a laboratory corridor only 3 meters wide and then precisely enter a height-restricted compartment, this “tight-fit” extreme transportation scenario was once a logistical challenge for many companies. The blue tank being transported is one of the company’s core pieces of equipment, weighing over 8 tons and with a diameter of nearly 2.5 meters. Its transportation route was essentially “passing through a narrow gap”: from the temporary storage area to the No. 4 magnetic chamber, it had to pass through a corridor only 3.2 meters wide and a doorway 2.8 meters high. Fixed installations such as fire pipes and ventilation equipment were arranged on both sides of the passage. Any dimensional deviation could cause the tank to collide with obstacles or fail to pass.

Previously, the client attempted transportation using a forklift together with lifting equipment, but the forklift’s turning radius was too large to handle the corridor corners; the lifting equipment’s boom also could not be extended in such a confined space. Unlike rail transfer carts that depend on fixed routes, this trackless cart uses a differential steering design with a turning radius of only 1.5 meters. At the 90-degree corridor corner, the operator used a wireless remote control to precisely adjust the direction, completing the turn in one smooth maneuver without jamming. With traditional equipment, at least three adjustments would have been required—along with a high risk of hitting wall-mounted fire pipes.

3. Stable Under Heavy Load, No Sinking on Soft Ground

The laboratory floor was made of ordinary cement, which poses a risk of sinking for heavy equipment. This transfer cart is equipped with wide polyurethane tires, with a contact area 30% larger than conventional tires. Even with the 8-ton tank, the floor showed no indentations, and there were no signs of sinking. Meanwhile, the vehicle’s shock absorption structure ensured stable transport, preventing internal damage to the tank’s precision components due to vibration.


III. Beyond “Transportation”: Efficiency and Safety Under Extreme Working Conditions

In this operation, the heavy-duty transfer cart delivered value far beyond simply “moving the tank to its destination.” From startup to final placement of the tank inside the chamber, the entire process took only 12 minutes—nearly 10 times faster than the 2-hour estimate for the “forklift + crane” method. Additionally, the emergency stop button and anti-collision sensors allowed operators to control the equipment safely from a distance, avoiding close contact with the tank and eliminating potential safety hazards.

More importantly, the equipment’s “customizable nature” enables it to handle even more extreme scenarios: whether narrow laboratory aisles, equipment gaps in factories, or low-height workstations in workshops, the cart can become the “standard solution for heavy-duty transportation in confined spaces” simply by customizing dimensions, steering modes, and tire specifications.
