At the port terminal, a bright red straddle carrier manufactured by PEISA immediately drew attention as soon as it started up. It effortlessly lifted a 40-ton container, its tires rolling smoothly as it turned, and precisely placed the container in the designated stacking area even before the forklift arrived.
This straddle carrier is the “exclusive handler” for ports and terminals. Its solid rubber wheels and extra-wide beam frame allow it to securely engage container lock holes while also accommodating the transfer of heavy equipment and engineering vehicles. It remains agile even under a 40-ton load. Its omnidirectional rubber wheels enable 360° rotation without the need for tracks, making U-turns in narrow yards effortless and nearly doubling efficiency compared to the traditional crane-and-forklift combination.
“Previously, moving a heavy container required two pieces of equipment working together, but now this straddle carrier can handle it single-handedly,” said the terminal manager. Since it was put into operation, daily container throughput has increased from 40 containers to 80, and it can also manage the transfer of heavy engineering vehicles within the yard.
