150 Ton Rail Transfer Cart|PEISA Machinery

This 150-ton rail transfer cart was custom-built for a large steel casting plant. It operates on a rail system and is powered by a high-capacity 900Ah/72V battery. With an overall height of 1,100 mm, the cart is designed to transport heavy materials and machinery, such as large structural components and steel castings, within the factory workshop. Controlled by a wireless remote, the cart allows operators to easily control its movement using a single handheld unit.

Why did the customer choose this DPX 150-ton rail transfer cart?

Although the actual load weighs 120 tons, we upgraded the cart's rated capacity to 150 tons. This provides an adequate safety margin by taking into account the cart's own weight and the impact forces generated during material handling, ensuring safe and reliable transportation.

The transport route runs from the workshop to the warehouse and requires the cart to travel between different areas of the facility. Therefore, battery power was selected to eliminate the limitations associated with trailing cables. Given the customer's moderate usage frequency—approximately 4 to 5 trips per day—the high-capacity battery allows the cart to operate for 2 to 3 days on a single charge.

Why do steel plants frequently choose rail transfer carts?

Equipment and materials in steel plants are often extremely heavy, making load capacity and stability critical factors when selecting transport equipment. Unlike forklifts or tow tractors, which rely on tires for ground contact, rail transfer carts provide greater stability when handling heavy loads.

They are also cost-effective. Although installing a rail system requires some initial investment and installation work, its long-term operating costs are significantly lower than those of trackless transfer carts, forklifts, or diesel-powered vehicles.

Steel plant rolling lines often involve extremely high temperatures, reaching hundreds of degrees Celsius, as well as iron oxide scale and dust. Rail transfer carts feature a relatively simple structure, consisting primarily of motors, reducers, and wheel assemblies, without complex steering mechanisms or hydraulic systems. This means fewer potential failure points, good resistance to heat and dust, and significantly lower maintenance requirements compared with AGVs or forklifts.
